Canned Food Drive

canned food.jpgIn conjunction with the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Department, we will be conducting a canned food drive from November 16 – December 4.

This will be a contest between homerooms.  The homeroom that brings the most percentage of cans will be awarded a surprise.

Let’s fill all 9 barrels in the foyer in an effort to help those in need.

Baseball Team

The Viking Baseball team has decorated and hung Christmas lights at the home of Jason Bland, the late Airline High School athletic trainer, for seven consecutive years.  The team has made sure that Jason's family has not had to miss out on having the house decorated for the holidays.

Mu Alpha Theta

THE Mu Alpha Theta Club at Airline High School recently held is monthly meeting in the cafeteria.  The topic was "How do Mu Alpha Theta students Trick or Treat?"  They gathered data about the candy and created bar graphs and scatter plots to help determine the richest candy, the most dense candy, and  the healthiest candy.  Analyzing graphs is an important skill for math, science, and ACT.  Determining facts about your food is part of good nutrition.  The cafeteria staff even joined in and created their own graph.

Volleyball Team

The Airline Viking Volleyball team raised $1875 for Children's Miracle Network during their "Serving for Miracles" competition. A total of $4401 was raised for Children's Miracle Network in this competition between the Airline and Byrd volleyball teams.

Aviation Announcement

If your schedule did not allow you to take the first Aviation Ground School Course (with dual enrollment with LA Tech) this semester, you can sign up for it next semester 2nd block, please see your counselor immediately.

If you are interested in working in the Aerospace Industry as an Engineer, Computer Simulation Specialist, Drone Pilot or Airline Pilot you need these courses.

There are also after school and summer Aerospace Industry employment opportunities available for those who qualify.  See Major Kimbrough for more information.

Airline High School has recently started an S2S program to help students transition into the school with greater success.

The average military-connected student moves six to nine time during their K-12 years.  Students faced with frequent moves must constantly integrate into a new educational system, new community, and find new friends.
The Military Child Education Coalition Student To Student (S2S) program is a student led organization that welcomes incoming students to their school and helps departing students prepare for their next school.  S2S eases transitions and creates a positive environment.
