Summer Message

Summer picture.jpg   Summer 2016

The summer of 2016 will be one that is remembered by all of us that are traveling through this journey of change.  We are experiencing the “brunt” of the reconstruction of our school and I could not be happier.  This is an exciting time to be involved with Airline and even though the disruptions are a challenge, the end result will be worth it.  Not only are we embracing the external issues, we are also dealing with the internal elements of change.  The schedule has been a challenge, we are seeing changes to our school family, and many stones are still left to be unturned.  Even with all the issues we face, I hope everyone can take time to reflect on how blessed we are to be a part of the Airline family.  I had the privilege of speaking at the Watchman On the Wall conference in Washington, D.C. and please know that we are blessed with reference to what other schools have to deal with.  I learned of issues and situations that I do not envy in the least.  When you hear of other’s trials you can often time gain an appreciation for what you have.

I want to encourage our school family to rest and relax over the next few months.  I certainly hope you can “steal” away some time to recharge the batteries of life and return to us with the energy that we need to be excellent.  One of the challenges that I will be issuing in 2016-2017 is for us not to accept just being “good”.  I want us to channel our drive in all we do to be truly “great”.  I never want us to settle for just being “good enough”.  I never want us to compromise the paths that we have chosen, nor relent on what it takes to achieve.  My desire is for all of us to seek the ability to “be distinct” from what our culture has come to accept.  Again, we have been blessed to have what we have and our charge is to not take it for granted.

I wish you all the best for a great and safe summer.  Take care and may God bless you all.

Texas Regional Paralympic Games

Airline High School has much to be proud of. Tyler McComic represented well at the Texas Regional Paralympic Games this weekend in San Antonio. He competed in powerlifting, 100m, 200m, 400m, 1500m, shot, disc & javelin...& brings home gold in everything except the 1500m...which he ran just before10:00 pm...after a 10 hour competition day (you would be proud of his performance there too!)  He has qualified for the Jr National games this summer.
