AHS Summer Reading Assignments for Summer 2014
All students enrolled in Honors and AP English classes are required to complete summer reading assignments in preparation for the coming school year. Of course summer is the perfect time for everyone to read, and the English Department encourages all incoming students whether they are enrolled in honors classes or not to read the following selections:
English I Honors: To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
All English I Honors students must complete the writing assignment for this novel. Please consult Mrs.Terri Robertson’s webpage for the instructions.
English II Honors and Pre-AP: The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck.
Please consult Mrs.Sarah Stevenson’s webpage for the instructions. Mrs. Stevenson has also created a Facebook page to help with the reading and the summer assignments. Please go to www.facebook.com/groups/AHSSummerReading/ and join the group! You can discuss the novel, ask questions, and discuss assignments. As always, remember that discussions are a great learning tool, but you are expected to turn in YOUR OWN WORK!
English III Honors and AP: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Crucible by Arthur Miller
English IV Honors: Selections from The Decameron by Boccaccio
All English IV Honors students must complete the written assignment for this piece. Please consult Mrs. Lori Ross’s webpage for the instructions.
English IV AP: The Dew Breaker by Edwidge Danticat
