Do Not Follow Where the Path May Lead...-Emerson.jpg

Thank You For Visiting My Website!

This is my first year as a Viking, and I am incredibly blessed to be at such a wonderful school teaching your children Physical Science. I was raised in a home that fostered scientific thinking, my father is a PhD Neuroscientist who researches Parkinson's Disease at LSU-HSC here in Shreveport. My mother, who is now the Controller at Centenary College, also instilled in me a strong business mindset. It is no wonder that I graduated from Centenary College with a degree in Geology and immediately went to work in the Oil and Gas Industry as a Geophysical Assistant. A successful geologist must have the ability to develop and communicate scientific processes with a business mindset in order to drill the most productive and profitable well.

I share my passion for science with my passion for fastpitch softball. While pushing my limits academically as a student at Centenary College, I also pushed myself to become an All-Conference Division 1 Softball Player for the Ladies.

After I graduated, my work in the oil and gas industry kept me away from coaching fastpitch softball, but I gave pitching lessons whenever I had the opportunity. Through coaching pitching lessons, I realized I had a gift for instruction and decided to leave the industry to become a full time substitute, teaching high school Biology. My success in the classroom lead me to pursue a career in education, and God blessed me with the opportunity to become a Viking after I completed coursework towards alternate certification. To me, nothing beats the fulfillment gained when a student understands a concept I have taught.

I look forward to sharing my background with my students in their pursuit of a high quality education at Airline High. Having experience as a high school and D1 College level student athlete allows me to relate to Airline's student athletes and assist them in time management and the recruiting process.  Also, the fact that I have had a career in geology allows me to portray to students what is required to become a successful scientist in today's job market.

The pursuit of excellence, which is promoted by the teachers and administration at Airline High, enables each student to go above and beyond their perceived “limits”. I am looking forward to getting my students beyond what they deem to be their academic “limits” by creating an academic atmosphere that fosters scientific inquiry and understanding.
